Therapeutic Emesis (vamanaṃ)
In therapeutic emesis (vamanaṃ), medicated emetic (vomiting inducing ayurvedic formulations) is administered orally. This controlled emesis eliminates the toxic or waste matters from the upper part of the body like the chest, throat, upper part of gut, stomach and head. Usually, if a cleansing is to be administered for a Kapha dominant disease or conditions affecting the neck or above, the procedure of choice would be vamanaṃ.
