Therapeutic Purgation (virecanaṃ)
Therapeutic purgation eliminates the filth accumulated in the body by bringing it back to the intestines and expelling it along with stools. It is the best cleansing procedure for Pitta or Pitta-predominant conditions. This is because the purgative medicines have to pass down from the stomach to the intestines and get processed by the Pitta for it to act properly. The Pitta doṣa also gets rectified in the process.
